Bryce and Chris, October 2012

We went down to Bryce Canyon and then on to Chris and Lisa’s for Chris’s birthday this week.  Monday morning we went to Bryce Canyon on a spectacularly beautiful day and got some amazing photos.  We stayed at Ruby’s Inn that night.

The next day we drove to Chris and Lisa’s house.  We ate lunch with Matthew and Allyssa at school.  Afterwards we went to Emma’s Kindgergarten class and helped with a Halloween party.  That evening we went to a dance recital.  I took the kids to Taco Bell and Sandy/Chris went to a restaurant to celebrate his birthday (Lisa was at a bookfair).

The following morning we went to one of Chris’s lectures at SUU.  Though I didn’t get as much out of it as I would have had I started at the beginning, it was interesting.

Below are some pictures (when I get the software I need to download from my Smartphone, I’ll put in the pictures I took of the kids.  I obviously took pictures of Bryce with the camera and I tried out the Smartphone with Chris and Lisa’s family).

Halloween Party 2012

We had the annual Halloween family party.  It was great.  Below are pictures of the costumed family members  (the last picture is from a dinner after General Conference.  Jaimee Joy said she "couldn't see" without glasses so she put on the plastic glass frames and Lauryn got in the act).

Spencer Baptism, City Creek Ride; September 2012

Spencer got baptized on Saturdy!  The baptism and confirmation was a spiritual experience.  Spencer gave us all a thumbs up while he was up on the stand with Beth prior to his baptism.  Chris and Lisa and family, Brian and Mindi and family and Matt and Kaelynn were there to see the glorious event.  After the baptism we went to Nate and Beth’s house for a great lunch.

We took a fun bike ride up City Creek Canyon.  Here are some pictures of the event:

Fun Events, September 2012

We had some great events this past week starting with a birthday dinner for Mindi this week.  It was fun to have her and the kids over.  We had crowns for them to wear.

We had a fun weekend.  We started off by taking a bike ride up Provo Canyon.  It was a beautiful day and the ride was relaxing.

We then went to a wedding reception of a daughter of a close friend from New Jersey—Jennifer Lund.  We saw my good friend, Tim Lund and other great people from New Jersey.  It’s amazing how old I’m getting when I see my friends children getting married.

After the reception we drove to Cedar City.  We saw Matthew’s soccer game, played with the kids in the park, bottled fruit and ate some delicious homemade pizza and breadsticks from Chris.  That night we saw “Les Miserables” at the Shakespeare festival.  It was wonderful.  The best musical I have ever seen.

We went to church the next day and drove home.  We stopped in to see Conrad and then Kaelynn/Matt.  They are doing great.

Kaelynn Wedding Aug 2012

Kaelynn is now married!  The whole wedding day turned out well.  Kaelynn got her hair done early in the morning by Andrea the beautician.

The wedding breakfast/lunch was next.  Nice comments were said about the bride and groom, but Greg Larson said he sat at the fun table where Chris, Lisa, Nate, Beth, Andrea, Mike, Brian, Mindi were laughing and having a gay old time.

Grandpa Dick married them and the Temple Ceremony was memorable.  Afterwards there were pictures at the Temple.

The reception was held at Sean and Jana’s reception center.  They kindly allowed us to use the center for their cost only.  It was a lovely affair.

Nate Graduation; Camping with Brian,Jaimee,Brandon

Hi All,

Nate graduated with his MBA from BYU.   I went down with Nate, Beth and kids to Provo to see the graduation.  Afterwards we went out to eat.  We are very proud of Nate.  He has done exceptionally well.

Friday I went with Brian to camp with Jaimee and Brandon.  We camped at Bountiful Flats.  This place has a fair number of memories since I took the kids and young men on a lot of campouts up there.  We had a delightful time playing around the fire and hiking.  That evening Brian and I had a great discussion about Gospel Principles far into the night.

Andrea and Mike have arrived!  Andrea came a few days early.  We have had a wonderful time visiting and catching up.  Tuesday night we had a great time playing with Dominion with "Edward and Bella"  (Kaelynn and Matt).  Andrea and Mike have gone to Jackson with Mike's parents but will back on Thursday before the glorious wedding event.

Zoo Trip, Yet Again, July 2012

We took Jaimee and Brandon to see the new exhibit at Hogle  Zoo called Rocky Shores.  This new exhibit has a polar bear and grizzly bears.  It was neat.  But it was nothing compared to the hilarious things Jaimee and Brandon said.

Jaimee said, “Grandpa don’t microwave your ice cream.  Old people like me, who are serious, will think you are crazy”.

She also said, “Here’s a little advice Grandma.  When people see you eat they might say they don’t want food but they really do”.

Brandon said, “I watch Johnny Miller every day—that’s what gives me all these good ideas”.

Brandon wanted us to buy him a toy at the zoo.  We told him that we thought he had a lot of toys.  He said, “One more toy will be enough”.
